COVID-19: Social protection measures for elderly care implemented by the City Hall of Praia benefit 374 people

Praia, May 21 (Inforpress) – The City Hall of Praia (CMP) has already provided assistance to 374 elderly people, within the framework of the social protection plan for elderly home care, aiming to guarantee their protection against COVID-19 and meet their needs.

The Government adopted the home care system, using the recruitment of social workers, caregivers and volunteers, in conjunction with the services of the City Halls, Civil Protection and Health.

A measure that aims to ensure the reinforcement of local social teams, with the hiring of trained caregivers and informal caregivers, to ensure the delivery of meals at home and to prepare a screening of the elderly in a situation of dependency, who live in isolation.

“The work started with the treatment of the database provided by the Ministry of Family and Social Inclusion. Therefore, we have outlined a strategy that consists of identifying the community associations leaders in order to identify elderly people without telephone contact, in order to do better time management”, it said.
