COVID-19: Mayor of Santa Cruz calls for unity and “no panic”

Pedra Badejo, May 18 (Inforpress) – The Mayor of Santa Cruz, Carlos Silva, today appealed to citizens to avoid panic, defending the unity in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, at a time when the municipality registers its first case.

“The new coronavirus has arrived in our municipality. Certainly, this news was not welcomed and even caused some astonishment and panic in our soul and our community relationship, since, although in a confined environment, our hope was that the disease would be distant from our municipality ”, he stated.

Carlos Silva made these statements in a message sent to citizens after confirmation of the first case of COVID-19 in Santa Cruz.

As he admitted, the arrival of the new coronavirus causes the county’s fighting and resistance capacity to be tested, but he was confident of victory, since, according to him, “winning is the key word in the history and identity” of this municipality in the countryside of Santiago.
