Praia, Mar 22 (Inforpress) – The Mayor of Ribeira Grande de Santiago made a visit to the works in progress in the municipality and assured that they will be completed before the election period.
Speaking to journalists this Thursday, Manuel de Pina explained that due to the new coronavirus pandemic, which affected Cabo Verde and the world, they had to stop the requalification and rehabilitation works in several areas of the municipality.
He said that a number of works are currently underway, from urban requalification, sports infrastructure, seafront restructuring, construction of squares, playgrounds, sports complex and municipal stadium that, in his opinion, will bring and improve the population self-esteem.
According to him, the requalification works in the Calabaceira area, estimated at 14 million escudos, will be concluded within a week. On the other hand, he stated that the works of Cidade Velha, valued at 28 million escudos, include the requalification of the entire seafront and the construction of an esplanade, but he assured that they had to request more funds from the Environment Fund to requalify the houses located on the outskirts of this infrastructure, and additional three million escudos for the protection wall at lower part that was destroyed by the sea.
