Tarrafal, Sep 12 (Inforpress) – The Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, said he believed that the centenary of the birth of Amílcar Cabral, “father” of the joint independence of Guinea-Bissau and Cabo Verde in 2024, will be “a great and remarkable moment”.
Ulisses Correia e Silva spoke to journalists this Saturday in Tarrafal (Santiago island), moments before participating in the event “Prime Minister Speaker Series”, which had as “special guest” the social activist Graça Machel, when he was urged to comment on the preparation of the celebrations of the centenary of Amílcar Cabral.
“The celebration of the centenary of the birth of Amílcar Cabral will be a great moment and the Government will surely participate in this action. We have been working in partnership with Amílcar Cabral Foundation so that we can make a celebration that is remarkable”, said the Head of Government.
However, to celebrate the 98th anniversary of the also considered “second greatest leader of humanity” the Pedro Pires Institute (IPP) has scheduled a conversation between Graça Machel and women and young entrepreneurs, welcomed for this Monday, in the City of Praia.
Amílcar Cabral was born on September 12, 1924 in Bafatá, Guinea-Bissau, the son of Juvenal Cabral and Iva Pinhel Évora.
