Praia, June 12 (Inforpress) – The Bank of Cabo Verde (BCV) announced this Tuesday that it will put into circulation, as of Friday, a commemorative coin of 200 escudos, alluding to the African Beach Games which are held in Sal Island.
The event, according to a BCV note, represents a historic milestone for Cabo Verde and for African sport, constituting, on the one hand, an opportunity to promote sustainability and the defense of the environment in the continent.
It is also intended to promote tourism “as a central pillar of the Cabo Verdean economy and Sal Island as a tourist destination of excellence, an international air transport platform, as well as a commercial and international business center.”
Coined in cupronickel with a normal finish and in silver with a special finish as “proof” type, the “African Beach Games – Sal 2019” coin has as figurative motivation, both obverse and reverse, compositions intended to mirror the the desire to bring together young people from African countries in the fight for the integrated development of the continent, as well as innovation and social inclusion through sport.
