Athletics: African Development Centre set to open its doors in the next three months at the National Stadium

Praia, Sep 22 (Inforpress) – Cabo Verde will have in the next three months the African Athletics Development Center to be set at the National Stadium, to enhance the talent of PALOP athletes and the African sub-region, on a clear commitment of the African Athletics Confederation.

With the creation of this center, according to the president of the National Federation, Alfredo Lima, Cabo Verde will receive from the African Confederation, “everything that is technical support in terms of accreditation, specialization of technicians, so that the country can fill the huge deficit of technicians specialized in high performance training”.

For the implementation of this project was formalized on Wednesday afternoon, at the Government Palace, a cooperation agreement, through the signing of an agreement between the African Athletics Confederation, the Institute of Sport and Youth, the Cabo Verdean Athletics Federation and the Olympic Committee of Cabo Verde, witnessed by the Minister of Sport, Carlos Monteiro.

Cabo Verde’s election to host the African Athletics Development Centre was referred to as “an event, undoubtedly, of high historical symbolism for Cabo Verdean athletics and sport in general”, which for the president of the Cabo Verdean Athletics Federation, symbolizes an honor for Praia to host this infrastructure.
