Praia, Sep 16 (Inforpress) – The director of Group VI, Celina Mendes, said today that the group started the new school year with fewer students enrolled and outlined as its main challenge the reduction of the high failure rate, especially in the eighth year.

Speaking to Inforpress, the official explained that the group, which includes Liceu Domingos Ramos (LDR) and the SOS and Lavadouro primary schools, began last year with around 4,600 students and ended with a considerable number of approvals, despite the difficulties recorded in the 7th, 8th and 11th grades.

In the 8th grade, the failure rate reached around 40%, involving 222 students, which the principal considers one of the most worrying points.

"Overall, we had satisfactory results, but we cannot ignore the challenges. Our vision for this year is to work together with teachers, class councils, and the entire educational community to reduce the failure rate, especially in the eighth grade," she stated.
