Praia, Jul 12 (Inforpress) – The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment believes that this year there may be “significant outbreaks” of locusts on the islands of Santiago, Maio and Boa Vista, taking into account the abnormal population of this pest recorded in 2021.
This information was provided this Monday, at a press conference in the City of Praia, by the Director General of Agriculture, Forestry and Livestock, Ineida Rodrigues, on the preparations for the agricultural campaign 2022/2023.
On the phytosanitary campaign, i.e. the control of the main pests of rain crops, the same source has said that as in previous years a strategy was developed for the implementation of the 2022-2023 plant health campaign shared with the delegations of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.
In this sense, and based on the inventory of the previous campaign, reported that the needs were defined and sent to each of the delegations the materials and equipment such as sprayers, personal protective equipment and pesticides for the campaign.
