Cabo Verde receives about 1500 tons of rice from Japan to reinforce food security

Praia, Jan 16 (Inforpress) – Cape Verde today received about 1,500 tons of rice from Japan, as part of food aid for the 2021 fiscal year, budgeted at approximately 200 million escudos, which will strengthen food security in the country.

The formal delivery took place today, at the Importex warehouse, in Achada Grande Frente, by the head of mission of the Embassy of Japan in Cape Verde, Hirose Shinichi, and on the part of the Government was the Minister of Agriculture and Environment, Gilberto Silva

This shipment of rice, according to the representative of the Embassy of Japan, is the result of an agreement worth 250 million yen, around 195 million escudos, within the framework of a non-refundable financial cooperation.

This is because Japan understands that a healthy and sufficient diet is essential for daily life and for the health of populations.
